Priority 6 of 6

Local climate action

Urgent action on the climate crisis, working with businesses, farms, schools and communities across Uttlesford.

What we will work for

  • Treat the climate crisis as the emergency it is
  • Show decisive leadership in reducing greenhouse gases and encouraging sustainable lifestyles
  • Maximise recycling and reduce waste

Why it matters here

The climate crisis is a growing threat, and we need action at every level to cut greenhouse gases and restore nature.

Green councillors played an important part in Uttlesford District Council’s declaration of a Climate and Ecological Emergency in 2019, and worked with the community-based EcoForum on the council’s climate strategy. They also started the Chairman’s Charter to cut single-use plastics across the district.

We will keep working on the climate crisis with businesses, farms, schools, churches, organisations, other parties and everyone in Uttlesford.

Drawn from our 2026 county manifesto, our 2023 district manifesto and our 2021 local manifesto. Draft wording, waiting for the party to sign it off.

Let’s make hope normal again
